Finally, a Working Computer (UPDATE: Monday)
I'm happy to report that I'm typing this on my new computer. I'm still in the midst of setting it up, but theoretically, it should be much faster than it was before.
It does, at least, start up. So that's a good thing.
It seems the Internet's a bit slower than I expected, so I'll have to figure out how to resolve that, but other than that it's good. I'll update further in the week to come.
10:16 PM UPDATE:
It turns out I didn't plan for this as well as I thought I did. I had believed my iTunes library was stored on my external drive, but not quite, so I've got to build it from the ground up once again. As exciting as that is in its own way, I would have preferred not doing it. Twenty minutes remaining as I transfer the music....
11:19 PM UPDATE:
Thankfully, it looks like it won't take as long as I thought to build the library. All my music appears present and accounted for, so all I need now it to rebuild my many playlists.
Downloaded Gimp (about 50 minutes), Audacity (about three) and the latest Movie Maker (less than one) to go all sorts of nuts with my media. I've never used Gimp before, so expect a larger update down the road as I grow more accustomed to it. Audacity, of course, I have, and I'm incredibly excited to try the new Movie Maker.
I must go to bed now, though, so we'll work on this more over the weekend.
MONDAY, MARCH 10 UPDATE
I don't know how people find the free time they do on a daily basis. While I worked about an hour yesterday to rebuild playlists, that was all I could devote to the project in the midst of all the others. I'll continue it today (yes, having my music on par or better than it is today is quite important to me) and will hopefully be able to dive head first into Gimp as soon as possible.
