The Extra Life 2014 Postmortem

So, after months of prepping, Extra Life 2014 is over.

I must say, this was, by far, the hardest Extra Life I’ve done yet. Five years in, it seems staying up for 24 hours (or, in my case, 26.5) is simply not as easy as it used to be.

Still, with the help of four cups of coffee, a few beers, some pizza and calzone, and, most importantly, good company, I managed to stay awake, play the games and post to Instagram for all 24 of those hours

I also debuted the livestream this year, which, if you missed it, is archived on my YouTube page, though I've no idea why you'd want to watch it now. This was something of a last minute addition to the day, and next year I may try a different tactic. Perhaps a Twitch show?

Anyway, that's something to think about next summer or so. For now, it's time to celebrate the success. So, I’d like to once again thank everyone who donated, as my efforts would be pointless without you: thank you Kristin, Ariya, Byron, Deb, Jay, Desmond, Julie, Dave, Aunt Deb, Michael, Dave and Susan, Aunt Beth, John, Ian, my dad, Bryanne, Steph and my mother-in-law. Thank you all!

A few of you helped me dress for success, and I absolutely love the result. I’ll be doing this again next year, so I hope the rest of you brush up on your skills and join in!

Also, for being the two to donate the most (it was a tie!), Ariya and John will be receiving the first print editions of Sanity’s Flaw when it’s available (which, I promise, will be shortly), along with a little something something extra for their incredible donations, as promised. My brother Ian, incidentally, was the random winner of another copy thanks to his donation. Thanks Ian!

Like I said, all in all, this was a huge success. We raised a cool $700, and though it’s not quite a record, it’s sure a damned good amount.

I'll definitely be coming back for more next year. I hope you do the same!
