Resolutions and Plans for 2016

As is usually the case when I make my plans for the coming year, be it personal or business, I like to look back on what I’d planned to get done in the one before.

You know, having a website like this, it makes life pretty easy sometimes.

Anyway, these were the two big ones I threw on myself last January, and I quote:
  • Bring Trezka to a point I feel comfortable publishing. While it may not necessarily release in 2015, I want my third book’s text to be finalized and ready to go when and where I want it released.
  • Bring my Fourth Book to a point I feel comfortable sending it to agents and/or publishers. There’s still a lot of work to be done with this book, but I’m more confident in its first draft than I’ve been of any of my books. And it has the possibility of being a real gamechanger for me.
As you may know, neither of these was accomplished. A bummer to be sure. However, before pawing through posts to remind myself what those 2015 goals were, I’d been thinking of doing pretty much the exact same ones for 2016. So, I’m going to stick with them. But let’s simplify them a tad, shall we?
  • Prepare Trezka for a 2017 publication.
  • Finalize Book Four and get it to agents.
Better. And, in fact, I’ve already started working toward of these, especially in regard to Book Four. That’ll be my big push in early 2016, with Trezka following up later. So, obviously, more on that to come.

Outside those big two, there were a few other goals I had in mind for 2015. Namely:
  • Publish Sanity’s Flaw.
  • Create business cards.
  • Find an agent and/or publisher for my Children’s Book.
  • Outline my Sixth Book.
  • Publish The Nobodies.
  • Develop and possibly outline my Fifth Book.
With these, my track record was much better. I published Sanity’s Flaw back in March and created business cards around the same time. I even outlined my Fifth and Sixth books. Where’s that bring us?
  • Publish Sanity’s Flaw.
  • Create business cards.
  • Find an agent and/or publisher for my Children’s Book.
  • Outline my Sixth Book.
  • Publish The Nobodies.
  • Develop and possibly outline my Fifth Book.
Not too shabby. You know, I did try to get The Nobodies to publication, but I felt it needed far more work than I ever would’ve realized, so that won’t be coming until a little later this year. And as to my Children’s Book? Well… we’ll see if 2016 will be the year for that. I recently sat down to work on it after months away working on other projects and it was a lovely change of pace. I’ll just need to fight to get that into the schedule.

There’s one other goal I’d like to add, but I hesitate to call it that. It’s more a… business necessity. I need a new computer. It just has to happen now. Because the other night, I was sitting there, trying to move some files and I couldn’t. The files were corrupted.

My computer is corrupting my files.

It’s dead weight. It’s giving me gray hairs. And by the year’s end, it will become well acquainted with my sledgehammer. That’s not a goal. It’s a vow.

I’d like to leave it at that, but I do have just one more… that I won’t be listing. Why? Well, it would spoil a rather lovely upcoming surprise. Something I just felt like throwing together. It’ll be fun, don’t worry. Just be sure to keep a look out here and on social media over the next few weeks. Hopefully, you won’t be disappointed.
